The Ciro Trail stages:
-
Day Mostar-Čapljina
- This section extends from Mostar to Capljina following the course of the Neretva River. The route is asphalted and without climbs. During this bike ride, we advise you to visit the following localities. Počitelj, a medieval fortified town and the popular Jaz Struge swimming spot on the Trebizat River where you can spice up your day with a kayaking experience. Note: “Easy level”, 35 km, Asphalt.
-
Day Čapljina-Ravno
- The most challenging day of cycling. You’ll mostly follow the Ciro trail, passing by abandoned railway stations and riding through old tunnels sometimes inhabited by bats. Along the way, you’ll cross high, rusty bridges and pedal with sweeping views of Popovo Polje, one of the largest karst fields in Southeast Europe. The day comes to an end with the arrival in the village of Ravno. Note: ”Medium to Hard Level”, 53 km, Gravel.
-
Day Ravno-Dubrovnik
- This stage follows the route of abandoned railway stations across Popovo Polje and crosses the Ivanica border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. Shortly after, you reach the village of Bosanka, offering stunning views of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea.The trail continues all the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia’s most famous tourist destination. Along the way, you can visit the Vjetrenica Cave, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most renowned speleological site, and the 16th-century Zavala Monastery, a designated National Monument. Note: ”Medium level”, 51 km, Asphalt.

More from Ciro’s Trail
- For those who want to get the most out of Ciro’s Trail, it is possible to visit additional locations such as the Kravica Waterfall and the town of Trebinje. While Kravica Waterfall is one of the most beautiful natural beauties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Trebinje is one of Herzegovina’s most beautiful towns, with its 18th-century Old Town and ancient plane trees which are providing ideal protection from Herzegovina’s hot summers. However, since the mentioned localities are outside the Ciro’s route, we advise you to plan a longer experience of four or five days in advance.
